Winter hibernation mode is in full swing at our house, and we're loving how this season invites us to slow down, recharge, and cozy up with good food and company! ❄️
Recently, we discovered the Danish concept of 'hygge' (pronounced hoo-gah), which perfectly embodies the feeling of coziness, contentment, and well-being during cold winter months. It's about creating a sanctuary within your home and embracing the warmth & intimacy of winter.
One way we've been enhancing our winter sanctuary is with our comforting hot cacao recipe…loaded up with all the good stuff, of course! 😉
This recipe allows you to stack ingredients to your liking, sneaking in healthy fats, protein, vitamins, & minerals! Not only will this loaded-cacao level up the winter coziness, it’s also exceptionally nourishing!
Ingredients
BASIC INGREDIENTS
- 200ml filtered water
- 1 TbspCertified Organic Cacao Powder
- 1 tsp Raw Honey (or 1 date)
- 1 Tbsp Bovine Collagen Peptides
- Pinch Seat Salt Flakes
OPTIONAL EXTRA INGREDIENTS
- Full Cream Organic Milk (Coconut milk will work also)
- 1 Pastured Egg Yolk
- 1 Organic Beef Spleen & Liver Capsules, broken open (any of our beef organ capsules will work!)
- Organic Heavy Cream, to serve
Method
1. For the basic cacao recipe, add all of the ingredients to a small saucepan. Heat over a low-medium heat, until around 60 C, then use a stick blender (or a whisk) to combine the ingredients together.
2. To load up your cacao, you can add a splash of milk, an egg yolk for extra fats, or even an opened organ’s capsule of choice (These should be added in step one, before heating).
3. Finally, add raw or organic whipped cream to serve
4. ENJOY!
